If you want to get ahead of the rush and grab a portable monitor deal before Black Friday chaos hits, now’s a good moment to start browsing. The main sales are still a little way off - you have until November 28 - but several retailers have already cut their prices, with some offers lining up with what we saw last year.

There are plenty of options depending on what you need. You might want a light screen for travel, a second display for your desk, or a portable panel for console sessions. Brands like Asus, Lenovo, Arzopa, and Geekom already have early discounts across different sizes and resolutions.

I’ll keep updating this guide through November as new offers land and prices shift.

The 5ms response time and 60 Hz refresh rate make it ideal for use as a second computer screen or streaming videos. Black Friday and Cyber Monday portable monitor deals: Buying advice

When does Black Friday start and when does it end?

Officially, Black Friday is November 28, and Cyber Monday is December 1. After that, the sale ends.

But with the deals above, I'm already seeing big price-drops and some retailers have confirmed to be going early with their Black Friday sales. For example, Best Buy launched its big sale at the end of last month and others have followed suit.

Which portable monitor deal should I choose over Black Friday?

Below, you'll find the minimum specs I recommend when choosing a Black Friday portable monitor deal - whether you're using it for streaming and general use, business travel, content creation, or gaming.

Considerations when choosing

Most budget options are largely similar in size and specs, but here are a few things to check beyond a low price.

Screen size

The most common screen size is 15.6in, but during Black Friday, I tend to see deals on portable monitors ranging from 13in up to 18.5in. Business-focused portable screens offered by the likes of Lenovo and Dell tend to be 14in, which is more convenient for business travel.

Color gamut

Color accuracy isn't especially important for general or business use, when you're using office apps or streaming movies. However, if you're creating content or playing games, it's best to opt for a wider color gamut. 100% sRGB is best for most users, but you'll want to bump that up to 100% DCI-P3 (or at a push 100% AdobeRGB) if you need faithful color reproduction.

Refresh rate

Not really an issue for most users, unless you're playing competitive games, where you'll want faster refresh rates. 120Hz to 144Hz will be ideal here. 360Hz is rare in the field of portable monitors, but is the best and most expensive pick. However, a screen with a 100Hz refresh rate will keep costs down if you're making your money go further.

Touch

Not all portable monitors have touchscreen, and you'll pay extra for this. If this is what you need, I highly rate the Lenovo ThinkVision M14t Gen 2. It's easily the pick of the bunch and I'll be monitoring this in the Black Friday sales.

Ports

Almost uniformly, portable monitors carry a mini HDMI and two USB-C ports, letting you connect the device to a laptop, and games consoles - although you may need a HDMI adapter for this. But for most uses, like streaming and presenting, these should be enough. Extras I always like to see is the 3.5mm audio jack for hooking up headphones.

Battery

Most portable monitors I see don't include a battery - it helps keep costs and weight low. But there are a few out there that do include them if you intend to use it away from a mains outlet. Where available, I'll make a note of this in any deal above.

How can I find the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday portable monitor deals

Here are three recommendations for making sure you get a good deal on a portable monitor this Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

1. Bookmark this page

From now and throughout Black Friday until the end of Cyber Monday, I'll be regularly updating this page with the best deals I can find on portable monitors. Where prices fluctuate, I'll let you know, so you can time it right to get the biggest discounts. I've been covering Black Friday sales events for years now (and I've been bagging bargains for a whole lot longer), so I'll be drawing on that experience, the reviews my team and I have conducted on portable monitors, as well as tools like CamelCamelCamel to make sure the deals here are as good as they seem.

2. Consider and research

Possibly the most important piece of advice I can offer: know what you need before you buy. Portable monitors come in a range of sizes and specs, and not all of them will be right for your use. I've listed the key specs you'll want to check for to make sure the display is the right fit for you. And I also recommend monitoring prices here and setting up alerts to get notified of price drops so you don't miss out.

3. Price vs value

More than any other hardware I cover, portable monitors are a minefield of low-cost devices that wildly vary in performance. For me, cheap doesn't mean best value. I recommend opting for a display from a known brand, preferably one my team and I have reviewed, so you have a good idea what to expect from it. In my experience, budget brands like Arzopa, KYY, AOC, Innocn, and InnoView typically offer good performance for the price. And you can't go wrong with mid-range and premium models from Asus, MSI, Lenovo, and Dell.
