I'm overdue a smart speaker upgrade, and these are the 3 models I'm tempted by this Presidents' Day

As someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes all things audio streaming, I'd be nowhere without the help of the best smart speakers. But while I love my trusted Echo Pop, I'm overdue an upgrade – and the Presidents' Day sales are a great excuse to do so.

Though it's still a week away, retailers are already getting the ball rolling with early Presidents' Day deals on some of our favorite smart speaker models out there. Amazon's flagship Alexa+ speaker, the Echo Dot Max, has dropped back down to its lowest price ($79.99, was $99.99), which is just as good as its Black Friday listing.

Record low price: As well as unveiling its first major upgrade for Alexa, Amazon launched the Echo Dot Max smart speaker, which we've deemed as one of the best devices in Amazon's lineup. Now at its lowest price, this model ticks all the boxes if you're after a smart speaker that delivers room-filling audio with its Lossless High Definition and Automatic Room Adaptation abilities. Though $80 is still a lot for some, it sits on the more affordable end compared to rival models.

Sonos Era 100
Save $40
Sonos Era 100: was $219 now $179 at Best Buy

If you've got a little more to splurge this Presidents' Day, the Sonos Era 100 is our best premium option, which you can score for a $40 discount at Best Buy. Compared to the Echo range, the Sonos Era 100 really packs a punch on the audio front, filling rooms of all sizes. As for connectivity, you can use AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth when you pair the speaker through the Sonos app. It also supports Alexa voice assistant, so it's not too much to get used to if you're switching over from an Echo device.
