Samsung's latest suite of smartphones has been around for awhile now, including the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25 Edge, Galaxy Fold 7 and Galaxy Flip 7. Still, if you're looking for top-tier power and a true flagship experience, 2024's Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is still an excellent phone.

And, it's priced as such. So, while you can buy it outright from retailers like The Good Guys and Amazon, or direct from Samsung (pair it with our best SIM-only plans if you do so) it still costs a hefty chunk of change. That's why many would prefer to pair it with a plan from a major telco like Vodafone or Optus.

We said it "embraces what it means to be Ultra" in our 4.5-star Galaxy S24 Ultra review – applauding its performance, battery, cameras and premium titanium frame. Almost two years on from its launch, that holds true. If you're looking to snag it with a plan, these are your two best options.

Best Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra plans: our picks

Best overall Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra plan

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (256GB) | 60GB data | 24 months | AU$136.62 p/m

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (256GB) | 60GB data | 24 months | AU$136.62 p/m (for 12 months, then AU$144.62 p/m)

It might be the older model, but, as we said, this handset still costs a pretty penny – this is the cheapest S24 Ultra deal you'll see. Down AU$8 p/m on the first 12 months, this plan is AU$10 p/m cheaper than the next-best offering from Optus. It runs on the 5G Vodafone network, provides international texts and gives you the option to get roaming for AU$5 extra per day. All that being said, the same plan paired with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra costs only AU$118.95 p/m.
Total cost over 24 months is AU$3,374.88

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (256GB) | 200GB data | 24 months | AU$141.62 p/m (for 12 months, then AU$154.62)

Beating out the deal above in terms of savings, Vodafone is cutting AU$13 p/m off the price of its medium plan – which is now AU$15 cheaper than the comparable Optus plan. As well as a large 200GB data pool, this medium plan also provides international calls and texts. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: key information

It felt like Samsung is forging a new path with the S24 Ultra. It didn't offer too many hardware upgrades over its predecessor, instead upgrading its offering through software and AI.

For a start, Samsung has worked closely with Google to bring some of the best features from the Google Pixel over to the S24 Ultra. The Google Pixel’s Magic Editor is available on the S24 Ultra – using generative AI to help you edit your images.

Similar to Google with its Pixel 8 devices, Samsung has also committed to seven years of major OS and security updates for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which means you've still got plenty to look forward to.

The software advancements are the biggest talking point, but it’s also worth highlighting the changes that have been made to Samsung’s camera array. Firstly, Samsung has reduced to a 5x zoom on the S24 Ultra, which is quite a step back from the 10x zoom that was available on last year’s S23 Ultra. This is quite a departure from the bigger and better approach from year’s past, but something has been added in its place. The telephoto sensor has been beefed up to 50MP, which is a big jump compared to the 10MP sensor that was housed in the previous model.

When it comes to aesthetics, the S24 Ultra looks much the same as its S23 counterpart, although it’s now encased in a titanium frame, perhaps taking a cue from the iPhone 15 Pro. Though don’t expect much weight saving – we found the device to be just as heavy as its predecessor during our hands-on. The device’s screen is also ever-so-slightly flatter than the S23, which means that the bezels appear slightly bigger.
