How to watch the 2026 Sundance Film Festival online
The Sundance experience is available online for film lovers
Organized by the Sundance Institute, which was founded by Robert Redford, the Sundance Film Festival is the biggest independent film festival in the U.S. It’s been running since 1978, giving newcomers and established veteran storytellers a launchpad for their independent movies and a real shot at finding distribution, critical acclaim, or if you’re something like A Real Pain, both.
2026 marks the last time the Sundance Film Fest will take place in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah – its new home from 2027 will be Boulder, Colorado. However, you don’t necessarily have to visit the cinema fest in person. Since 2021, the Sundance Film Festival has been running an online program that lets folks in the U.S. catch a few titles of their liking from the comfort of their home.
How to watch the Sundance Film Festival online in the US
Online screenings for the 2026 Sundance Film Festival will be available from January 29 to February 1. It's worth noting that online screenings are only available for the last few days of the entire film fest, which will run from Jan 22 to Feb 1.
Online viewers have five ticket options: single tickets for online movies ($35 apiece), a short films pass ($45 apiece), single film/short films bundle ($60 apiece), a festival pass ($815 apiece), and a festival package ($350 apiece). Once you start a movie, you will have five hours to complete it. if you start an Indie Episodic entry, you have 12 hours to complete the available episodes. Lastly, there's no time limit to finish watching a selected short film. You can watch by either logging in to the Sundance site on a browser or by downloading the Sundance Film Festival Player app on a compatible device.
Can I watch 2026 Sundance Film Festival in the UK, Australia or Canada?
Unfortunately, not. Sundance Film Festival have strict rules on viewing with it only permitted in the US.
